Fairy Tale Time: Cinderella

Did you know that there are over 300 versions of Cinderella and that's just in Europe? How fascinating is that? That being said, there were obviously various authors of this ever changing tale. No one knows who the original author of Cinderella is. Some people say Perrault, while others say it originated in China or Greece. The history of Cinderella is interesting to say the least.
When I started to read Cinderella by Charles Perrault I was slightly dissapointed. The reason why I say this is because I had heard of the one by the Brothers Grimm, which is titled Ashputtle, where the step sisters and mother had their eyes plucked out by birds. This one I read by Perrault was similar to Disney's retelling with a few differences but not as many as I had expected. So if you have always loved the Disney princess Cinderella I would assume you would enjoy this specific retelling by Charles Perrault.

Questions:
Do you think Cinderella should have gone to the ball?
Would you have married someone you had just met as Cinderella did? Why or why not?
Why did her glass slippers not dissolve into air like her dress did?
What do you believe the moral to the story is?

For next week we will be reading The Frog Prince by Jacob & Wilhelm Grimm. I am reading The Frog Prince in the book that you can see in the photo, but I'm sure you can find it in others.

My sources I used to find out about Cinderella are in the links below. If you want to learn more I recommend reading one or two.
