Fairy Tale Time: Hansel and Gretel
Howdy, my fellow fairy tale readers! I'm so sorry I did not get to posting last week. It was somewhat busy and I kept procrastinating. I am determined to not do that again. You have my word.
Back to the fairy tale side of things: How did everyone like Hansel and Gretel by Jacob & Wilhelm Grimm? (If you have not yet read it I strongly encourage you to do so.) This tale I found quite fascinating, due to how divergent the original story is to how it is retold now. As you, hopefully, have read there is no witch, the children's mother did not kick them out of their own home, Gretel became married to a king, and Hansel was turned into a Fawn. That being said, I have absolutely no idea where the Hansel and Gretel story we have now, came from! They did not even use bread crumbs! To be honest, I enjoyed the original story better than the fake one that has totally ripped all of human kind off! ( I'm sorry, this fairy tale stuff has made me a bit emotional, as you can probably tell.😂)
Questions:
Do you think it was right for Gretel to marry a king that she had just met and had no relationship with him whatsoever?
Should Hansel and Gretel have run away from home? Why or why not?
What do you think the moral of this story is?
The next fairy tale we we will be discussing will be Cinderella by Charles Perrault. You can check a collection of Charles Perrault's fairy tales out at the library with Cinderella in it, or find one at your local bookstore to buy. Next Tuesday I will have the next Fairy Tale Time for y'all to read.
Happy reading, Autumn
