There You'll Find Me
There You’ll Find Me by Jenny B. Jones
⭐⭐⭐ - 3 stars
“Grief brought Finley to Ireland. Love will lead her home.
Finley Sinclair is not your typical eighteen year old. She's witty, tough, and driven. With an upcoming interview at the Manhattan music conservatory, Finley needs to compose her audition piece. But her creativity disappeared with the death of her older brother, Will.
She decides to study abroad in Ireland so she can follow Will's travel journal. It's the place he felt closest to God, and she's hopeful being there will help her make peace over losing him. So she agrees to an exchange program and boards the plane.
Beckett Rush, teen heartthrob and Hollywood bad boy, is flying to Ireland to finish filming his latest vampire movie. On the flight, he meets Finley. She's the one girl who seems immune to his charm. Undeterred, Beckett convinces her to be his assistant in exchange for his help as a tour guide.
Once in Ireland, Finley starts to break down. The loss of her brother and the pressure of school, her audition, and whatever it is that is happening between her and Beckett, leads her to a new and dangerous vice. When is God going to show up for her in this emerald paradise?
Then she experiences something that radically changes her perspective on life. Could it be God convincing her that everything she's been looking for has been with her all along?”
Series: no
Ok, wow. My first Jenny B. Jones book ever and I’m not too enticed. When I read the summary of the book I wasn’t too keen on the whole ‘heartthrob bad boy vampire actor’ thing. Nonetheless, I was still interested in reading it.
Chapter thirty-four, the last chapter, was bitter sweet. Just the right ending, however sad it may be.Mrs. Sweeney died is all. Nothing tragically tragic. To be honest, the ending bumped my rating back up to three stars instead of 2.5.
Characters:
Beckett Rush: He is not my cup of tea, metaphorically speaking. I have so many thoughts on him but I don’t know how to form them into complete sentences.😄He was a bit too touchy for my taste. Sure, what do you expect from a teen heartthrob, but still… The whole kiss thing. No, just no. Beckett had only known her for a few weeks at the most. If you are going to be romantically involved with someone then please get to know them better. There's fiction for ya. (Real life I’m sure as well.) I will say that I loved how well he kept up with his commitments and how well he treated Finley. That was pretty amazing and surprising for an actor. Beckett put up with her rather nicely while I would have probably gotten agitated and went to rage.
Finley Sinclair: I felt really bad for the loss of her brother. The way Will passed away was tragic. She did bug me towards the middle-endish but that was really because of her problems she wouldn't share with her trusted friends. In the end, as goes the general contemporary novel, things were better. Don’t ever lose hope for the main character in these types of books because the conclusions are generally one in the same.
When reading this there were a few uncomfortable comments that were not appreciative in my eyes. That being said, along with my other thoughts listed above, this book was not my favorite. Maybe I’ll try another Jenny B. Jones book but for now I’m going to compIete some of my books I am currently reading.
