Red Rover, Red Rover
Red Rover, Red Rover by Perry Elisabeth Kirkpatrick

“He's a spy, and he needs her help...
Emily Abbott is working hard as a coffee barista in downtown Phoenix, keeping one eye on her tiny college fund and the other on the mysterious new guy with his profound lack of coffee-making skills.
Just when she thinks they might be getting the hang of working together, she's abruptly thrust into his world of espionage and danger. Brent Peterson needs her help to keep Red Rover safe and the information he carries out of the wrong hands. But she's just a barista—what can she do?
Much more than she thinks.”
I requested this book from the library, knowing it would be small. Did I realize how small it would be? No. At first I was a tad disappointed at the size. However, I then came to the realization that this was perfect travel material. Tiny and cute and could even fit in my fanny pack, lol.
Because of the total page number of 163 and it being about as tall as a smartphone, this novella was fast paced. Not a thrilling, scarry, horrible kinda fast paced, but a “oh-your- a-spy-that's-fine-I’m-not-at-all-freaked-out-of-driving-around-with-you-and nearly-dying” kinda fast paced. Not realistic at all. Nonetheless, I still really enjoyed it. I will be continuing the series for sure. It’s a nice and quick mindless read so I should get the following novellas knocked out quickly.
Characters:
Brent: He is a likable, stealthy college aged guy. A horrid barista. Brent could not make a decent cup of coffee for the life of him.
Emily Abbott: A nice, practically broke, young woman trying to keep her job so she has enough money for college, I think it is. Great barista and makes delicious smoothies. Yum!
This was a clean read. Spy agencies are fun to read about, in my opinion. If you want a quick, fun, non-realistic read here you go!
